Holiday Activities To Do With Your Kids

holiday activities with kids baby tula

Whether you’re celebrating the holidays or spending more time indoors, this time of year offers you opportunities to start annual wintertime activities and create memories. We asked Team Tula to share some of their own favorite traditions in hopes that it would inspire your Holiday bucket list for the rest of December!

1. Read Your Favorite Books of the Season

Storybooks that we all love seem to center around this time of year, so it’s the perfect time to introduce your child to winter-themed stories and cuddle under a Tula Blanket. Here is a helpful list of our own favorite wintertime books to get for the holidays.

2. A Tree Farm Visit

The holiday décor is not often complete until you decorate the tree. If you are able to make it to a tree farm to cut your own tree or walk through the trees and enjoy the experience, it’s a wonderful way to ignite the holiday spirit and have a fun outing with your family. Just don't forget a Tula ring sling, baby carrier, or woven wrap to stay close and cozy!

3. Listen to Festive Holiday Music

While decorating the tree or crafting with family, turn on that holiday music to signal to the whole family that the season has arrived. We shared some of our must play holiday songs in a previous blog post to put you in a jolly mood.

4. Bake Holiday Cookies

Holiday cookies are perfect for baking with your children and enjoying them at your own winter festivities. We love these two cookie recipes that are fun to make and fun to eat! YUM!

5. Create Your Own DIY Ornaments

When the ornaments come out to decorate the tree, a lot of memories from Christmas past return. That's why we think making ornaments with your children is a meaningful activity that is sure to be memorable. Take your little ones to a paint your own ceramic shop or create one of these DIY ornaments at home.

6. Explore your Local Holiday Events

Going to local events during the holiday season is a wonderful way to experience winter activities and the grander holiday spirit with the whole family. Holiday events like Caroling in the Heights or Jungle Bells at the San Diego Zoo are Team Tula favorites and it is likely that your area has similar holiday events as well. Just plan to bring a Tula ring sling or baby carrier, if you anticipate big crowds and a lot of walking.

7. Host A Gingerbread House Contest

During a time when you're getting the whole family together, why not make it really memorable with some gingerbread house building. It is a fun crafty activity that is enjoyed by adults and kids alike and, if you make it a contest, the challenge can encourage some extra creativity. Get inspired by these incredible gingerbread creations we found.

8. Enjoy A Delicious Baked Brie

A food item or dish can often become a family staple during the holidays so finding something simple yet enjoyable to bring to all your holiday festivities can be the start of a new tradition. May we suggest this ultra delicious baked brie recipe that will warm up your holidays and your belly!

9. Watch a Holiday Flick

Winter weather might keep you indoors, so add a classic holiday movie, some hot cocoa, and snuggles under a Cuddle Me blanket to turn your time indoors into a fun family night. Here is a list of some our all-time favorite holiday movies

10. Make Hot Cocoa

Speaking of hot cocoa, here is a three-ingredient hot cocoa recipe that is sure to make your movie night extra memorable during the holidays.

11. "Twas the Night Before Christmas” Gift Exchange

This fun twist on the White Elephant gift exchange is a wonderful way to celebrate Christmas Eve. Gather your family and read the "Twas The Night Before Christmas" poem aloud and every time the word “The” is read pass gift to the right; every time a body part is read pass gift to the left. When the poem is finished, open up the surprise gift you ended up with!

12. Plan A Memorable Christmas Morning Breakfast

Christmas morning is filled with excitement and joy, so you need a breakfast treat that provides equal delight. We suggest making this Overnight Blueberry French Toast with your children on Christmas Eve to create a special tradition as you prepare for Christmas morning.

Let us know what activities you enjoy this time of year and if Tula will be part of your winter memories!
